While out for a walk in White Rock we were amused to see a couple of girls randomly dressed as Wonder Woman and Super Girl wandering around on the boardwalk. Then all of a sudden while I was shooting pictures of seagulls nearly dropping shellfish on tourists (well they weren’t PURPOSELY doing that) there was a thunder of footsteps and the superheroes came flying past, I loved this shot.

Summer came very late this year and that seems to have left some rather confused plants ’round these parts. By now the leaves should be in full colour or even on the ground, but most trees still look pretty green. We had to really search to find evidence of fall colours in our park walk yesterday.

Another shot of a fabulous Cannon Beach sunset. This one was particularly appealing to me because of the rays shining through the breaks in the marine layer that had descended and I THOUGHT was going to steal our chance of a sunset. Fortunately the marine layer lifted a little so the sun managed to sneak a peek out from underneath and through those breaks.

We took advantage of a few days off together and headed down once again to Cannon Beach Oregon. We’d never been there in the Summer before and it was lovely! We were lucky to have gorgeous sunsets just about every night we were there and they were all very unique.

Back out of the gardens and into the sea once again with a nice transition, I mean what could look more like a cool flower than a sea anemone? I was quite pleased with how clear some of my underwater pictures were considering I was topside, bending over and tenuously balanced on the balls of my feet when I took them. While exposed by the retreating tide you can often see anemones (heh geddit?) but from self-preservation they are retracted and globular, it isn’t until you get to see them underwater do you truly see their beauty.

Tucked here and there around Minter Gardens are some sweet weathered statues so well placed they add to, rather than detract from, the surrounding gardens. When I say tucked I really mean tucked. Some of the statues are below eyesight and some are set quite far back in a garden patch, sometimes below trees. Everything in this garden is so tastefully done, I love it.

No, not a photo of a Grateful Dead fan, but a bucket of discarded flower heads from Minter Gardens. The gardens are kept very well-groomed and tucked here and there in discrete cement cylinders are these shiny dead head buckets. I thought the discarded flowers in this bucket made for a pretty picture indeed.

I miss having a garden of my own, one day I really hope to again. Everywhere you turn in Minter Gardens are different kinds of beautiful blooms. I am not a big fan of the colour yellow, except in nature and these cute yellow blooms were no exception.

A break from Cannon Beach pics (though I’m sure to return to them again), this is a shot of Bleeding Hearts taken in Minter Gardens. Minter Gardens is a lovely spot to tour if you ever find yourself slightly East of Chilliwack BC. A younger sister to the perhaps better known Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island, but in my opinion the lovelier of the two.
