My wishlist item this past Christmas was a Lytro camera and Santa came through.  I’m having lots of fun with it!

Pale Winter Sun in the Forest

As much as I love Summer I probably appreciate the sun even more on a Winter’s day.

Bond. Cinny Bond.

A silly picture today. We picked up a new toy for our cat Cinnamon (AKA Cinny), one of those pop-up tunnels which connects to a little pop-up house. Typically she could care less for store-bought toys, most of them sit ignored, but she showed interest in this one right away. I couldn’t resist taking a shot of her heading down the tunnel towards me and it reminded me a little of the classic James Bond gun barrel picture, hence the tongue-in-cheek title of this post.

Practice Makes Perfect

There were plenty of surfers in the water at Long Beach, but this fellow caught my attention while land surfing. He’d rigged up some driftwood to practice balancing his center of gravity on a makeshift surfboard. As someone who is gravity challenged at the best of times, it was fun to watch how sure-footed he was.

Treasures Of A Tide-pool

I got more than a little mucky kneeling close to a tide-pool to get a shot of the anemones within. These little critters are definitely prettier underwater than they are above ground, and I’m always certain to keep a safe and respectful distance from their little stingers! I’ve done tide-pool pics before down in Cannon Beach, but this time I was able to get closer to a few bigger ones, and get a better look at the insides.

Surf City BC

Another shot from our trip to the west coast of Vancouver Island. While there were a lot of surfers in Cox Bay, there were certainly a lot more in the waters of Long Beach in the Pacific Rim National Park, which stretches between Tofino and Ucluelet.  The beach lives up to its name; there was a huge expanse of sandy shoreline to walk on and we never felt crowded. A visit to Long Beach is a must for anyone who ventures to the other side of the Island.

Sunset over Cox Bay

We spent the Labour Day long weekend in Tofino. It was my first time there, and the area is certainly very beautiful. Bonus, no border to cross. The west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia is definitely a place to check out, particularly if you’re a surfer, scuba-diver, fisherman or want to go whale watching. If you’re more like me, a beach walking, photographing, sunset watcher, well there’s lots of that to do too.
